Dowsing: A Path to Enlightenment — by Joey Korn

Dowsing: A Path to Enlightenment — by Joey Korn

When most people think of dowsing, they think of an old-timer using a forked tree branch to find a place to drill for underground water. That's what I used to think too. Now I see dowsing as a powerful tool for self-exploration, for understanding the natural forces of the Universe, and for working knowingly with the Divine and with Nature in our lives.

I learned to dowse in 1986 from a kindly old gentleman who helped me find our septic tank with a pair of cut up coat hangers. He had fashioned them into L-shaped wires (that's why they're called L-rods) and he walked with the long parts pointing ahead of him, using the short parts as handles.

Dowsing for Objects
He simply stated his intent to find the main sewer pipe coming from the house and when he was over the pipe, the rods opened and pointed in opposite directions making a line. Then he walked away from the house along this line, asking to find the septic tank, and his L-rods opened up again.

"There's your septic tank," he said. Sure enough, that's exactly where it was. I had been studying metaphysics for many years by then and when I saw this, I was hooked. I've been dowsing ever since.

I realized right away that I could dowse for many things besides underground water and sewer pipes, such as electrical lines, wooden beams in walls, and lost objects. Later I learned I could dowse human energy fields, or auras. This really excited me because it helped me understand concepts I had accepted on blind faith before.

Energy is Everywhere
In my explorations, I learned that everything in Nature is surrounded by energy fields that I can detect with dowsing. Some of these energies, like the energies of some underground streams, noxious rays, and the electromagnetic fields (EMF's) radiating from TVs, computer screens, wires, etc., can weaken us. Other energies are beneficial; they enhance our health, our moods, and our relationships.

Most dowsers that work with these energies do things to divert, neutralize, or block detrimental energies using various tools and techniques. Some drive iron rods into the ground directly in the flow of these energies. Others use a variety of other devices and techniques.

What makes my work different from other dowsers is that I have found that the real power to work with natural energies comes from collaborating with them. We don't have to use external devices to block detrimental energies. In fact, we don't want to block them at all. We want them to be there. We just want them to be beneficial, and we can make them beneficial very easily--with the power of prayer, especially with blessing.

Collaborating with the Unseen
Once you find detrimental subtle energies with dowsing or feel them with your body, all you have to do is say a sincere prayer, asking that they become beneficial. Immediately they do, and they will remain beneficial until something happens to change them back to be detrimental. This could be something in Nature, or it could be the result of negative thoughts and emotions. This is much more often the case, especially in our living environments.

With negative thoughts and emotions, we put detrimental energy into our living environments and into our beings. We change the subtle energy around and within us with every thought, action, and emotion. We literally surround and fill ourselves with our fears, our anger, our resentment, and other negative emotions that hold us back in life and can make us sick.

With positive, joy-filled thoughts and emotions, and with prayer and blessing, we surround and fill ourselves with living beneficial energies that bring us more joy, healing, prosperity, and success.

We can also attract new beneficial energies, including energy leys and power spots, into our living environments to bring healing or whatever we most want and need into our lives. The more we understand what is going on energetically, behind the scenes in life, the more we can take charge of the process.

This is connecting with the Divine within, creating our own reality consciously and in so doing, expanding our awareness tremendously. In fact, I’ve made some amazing discoveries regarding the Kabbalistic Tree of Life patterns of energy – but that is another story.

From all my years of doing this work, I firmly believe that dowsing is much more than a way to find water; it's a path to enlightenment.
